Abstract: Young people and adults who return to school require engaging methodologies that can stimulate their pursuit of knowledge, rather than lead to school dropout in the face of a traditional model that does not consider the particularities of its students. Given the importance of this issue, a bibliographic study was conducted on active methodologies applied to the teaching of Science and Biology in Youth and Adult Education (EJA). The research aimed to outline a profile of the bibliographies by analyzing the effectiveness of different methodological concepts and approaches on the subject. For this purpose, 11 articles from the past seven years were selected, using academic platforms such as Google Scholar, Scielo, and CAPES. A heterogeneity in the methodologies used was observed, which proved to be excellent tools for fostering differentiated and efficient teaching, as well as promoting greater socialization between student and teacher, student-to-student interaction, and enhancing their confidence as active protagonists in their learning process.

Abstract: This article analyzes the access and retention of individuals in graduate studies at UFPA at the master's and doctoral level of both sexes belonging to the ethnic-racial group classified as black. Methodologically, we chose to apply a questionnaire made using Google Forms and then the results were analyzed. The data reveal that the path to entering graduate school was full of challenges, but overcome with perseverance, 40%. Regarding the main challenges they encounter along the path of graduate studies, it is possible to note that the financial difficulty in paying for studies. In addition, insecurity regarding the choice of an academic career was a point highlighted by the interviewees. It is clear that the lack of guidance and the conciliation with work and studies say a lot about the lack of educational policies that allow students to remain. Therefore, it is essential to expand educational policies that allow black students to remain in graduate studies at UFPA.

Abstract: The objective of this work was to determine a water quality index (WQI), considering the spatial and seasonal variations of the Peixe-Boi River watershed using chemometrics methods. Twenty-eight sampling sites were selected. The elements Ag, Al, B, Ca, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, K, Mg, Mn, Na, Ni, P, Pb, Si, Ti, V, and Zn were determined using optical emission spectrometry with inductively activated plasma. (ICP-OES) and physicochemical parameters were evaluated using different techniques. The WQI values in the wet season indicated that 39.3 % of the samples collected had good quality and 60.7 % had excellent quality. In the dry season, the WQI values ranged from “Regular” (10.7 %), “Good” (67.9 %), and “Excellent” (21.4 %). The parameters evaluated were found, on average, by the standards of CONAMA resolution 357/2005 for class 2 freshwater rivers. The WQI are among the most effective ways of communicating water quality information to the public or quality managers.

<title>Software for calculating a water quality indicator specific to the Amazon Region</title>

Abstract: The quality of the water in the Amazon's reservoirs is of fundamental importance for natural ecosystems, biota, and for the region's population. Maintaining the water quality involves long-term monitoring programs established by the requirements of Brazilian legislation. A web interface may facilitate the use of monitoring results routinely, which allows periodic insertion of previously selected water quality parameters results, to finally provide a simple and direct way to evaluate the water quality. The general objective of this study was to develop a software based on a water quality indicator (WQI) system considering chemical, physical-chemical, and biological parameters evaluated in four seasonal periods in Samuel dam. Multivariate analysis was used to select 10 significant variables (oxidation-reduction potential, dissolved oxygen, total dissolved solids, chlorophyll a, phosphate, Ba, Ca, Fe, Na, and Sn). The web software added innovation to the project, enabling to storage of data from analysis of field-collected samples in an organized and safe way in a database, in addition to speeding up the calculation of the WQI, making it possible to classify the water quality more quickly and accurately.
